2008 NCAA Mens D1 Championship Tournament

The 2007-08 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament involved 65 schools playing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 18, 2008, and concluded as the Kansas Jayhawks defeated the Memphis Tigers 75-68 in overtime on April 7 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. For the first time since seeding was used , the number 1 seed from all the regions made it to the final four. On August 20, 2009, the NCAA forced Memphis to vacate all of its wins from the 2007-08 season, as well as their trip to the Final Four and the NCAA Championship Game. The penalty, which was due to use of the ineligible player, namely Derrick Rose. First round games were played March 20 and 22 at the Honda Center, Anaheim, California, Pepsi Center, Denver, Colorado, the Qwest Center Omaha, Omaha, Nebraska and the Verizon Center, Washington, D.C. Games played on March 21 and 23 were played at the BJCC Arena, Birmingham, Alabama, the Alltel Arena, North Little Rock, Arkansas, the RBC Center, Raleigh, North Carolina and the St. Pete Times Forum, Tampa, Florida. On March 27 and 29 the East Regional was held at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena, Charlotte, North Carolina and the West Regional was held at the US Airways Center, Phoenix, Arizona. On March 28 and 30 the Midwest Regional was played at Ford Field, Detroit, Michigan and the South Regional was at Reliant Stadium, Houston, Texas. The Final Four weekend was played April 5 and 7 at the Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas.
