2009 NCAA Mens D1 Championship Tournament

The 2008-09 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament had 65 schools playing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 17, 2009, and concluded with the championship game on April 6 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. The University of North Carolina defeated Michigan State in the championship game to claim the championship. The final game turned into a rout by the end of the first half with North Carolina up by 21. The Tar Heels won the game 89-72 to claim their fifth championship. First and second round games (Thursday/Saturday, March 19 and 21, 2009) were held at the Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, North Carolina, Sprint Center, Kansas City, Missouri, Wachovia Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the Rose Garden, Portland, Oregon. Games on Friday/Sunday, March 20 and 22, 2009 were held at the Taco Bell Arena, Boise, Idaho, University of Dayton Arena, Dayton, Ohio, American Airlines Arena, Miami, Florida and the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, Minneapolis, Minnesota. The regional games on Thursday/Saturday, March 26 and 28, 2009 were the East Regional at TD Banknorth Garden, Boston, Massachusetts and West Regional at the University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona. On Friday/Sunday, March 27 and 29, 2009 the South Regional was hels at the FedExForum, Memphis, Tennessee and the Midwest Regional at Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana. The Final Four weekend was held at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.
