April 2002: The Southwest Basketball League (SBL) announced expansion plans that includes the development of the West Coast Basketball League (WCBL). Inaugural members of the WCBL will include the Kern County Vipers, based in Bakersfield, California and the Tijuana Tasmanian Diablos, in Tijuana, Mexico. Both WCBL teams are former members of the Global Basketball Association and the ABA2000. The Southwest Basketball League and West Coast Basketball League have combined their schedules in 2002. We have included the WCBL teams here for this year.
