NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision Bowl Games

The NCAA did not declare a National Champion for football prior to the start of the College Football Playoffs in 2014. Prior to that a "champiuon" was based on polls, computer rankings and conference alignments. The NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision football conferences play against each other in a series of bowl games each year. Starting in 2014 there is a four team playoff via the bowl games to give the various polls a clear path to determine College Football's Best Team.

Some of the football bowl games are no longer played and some have gone through multiple name changes over the years and we have noted those changes. Use our directory listing below to access the information on the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision bowl game of your choice. The past winners for each football bowl are available by clicking on the bowl game name. Curently the four BCS NCAA football bowl games are the Orange Bowl, the Rose Bowl, the Fiesta Bowl and the Sugar Bowl. In addition in 2006 the BCS added the National Championship game to the schedules.

In the past few years a corporate bowl game sponsorship has been added to the titles of the games. Over the years the "bowl season" has been greatly extended. From bowl games only played on New Years Day, we now have the first bowl game played midway through December and the last being group being played in January.
