The United Soccer Leagues
The USL is the largest system of national
soccer leagues in North America. Founded in 1986, United Soccer
Leagues the system provides the starting point for players
who aspire to play at the highest level. Top male players
are able to progress up through leagues, that eventually lead
to Major League Soccer, playing for a foreign club, or even
being called up to their national team.
The A-League, classified
by U.S. Soccer, the sport's national governing body, as a
Division II professional league, includes team in the United
States and in Canada, where the league is classified as Division
I by the Canadian Soccer Association.
One step below the A-League is the D3
Pro League, classified by the U.S. Soccer as a Division
III league.
The Premier Development
League (PDL), one level below the D3 Pro League, , features
collegiate, amateur and some professional players.
